Yes, that is indeed the name of the anime. There is no Japanese version of the title, this series isย really called Undead Girl Murder Farce. Immediately catches your eye, doesn’t it? It tells you something but not too much, I like this title lol.
So I found out about this anime while going through the news. As I said, the title caught my eye. I really do feel we don’t get nearly enough vampire anime set in the 19th Century and this anime will probably satisfy my craving. Really looking for something like the Case Study of Vanitas, man.
So welcome back to another edition of Put This on Your Radar – the show where I talk about upcoming anime that caught my eye. So let’s talk about Undead Girl Murder Farce today!
What do we know about Undead Girl Murder Farce?
The anime will be based on the manga of the same name by Aosaki Yuugo and Tomoyama Haruka. It has been serialized in the Shounen Sirius magazine since May 2016. The story is about a detective called a ‘cage user’ who is called in to investigate the murder of a vampire’s wife. Of course, the detective himself is no normal detective and the series follows his investigation of the case.
The anime will be made by Lapin Track. It will be directed by Omata Shinichi, who has worked on a lot of anime like Kaguya-sama, Madoka, The Asterisk War, etc. It is scheduled to air right in the next season, that is the summer season of 2023. Yachiru Takasu, Koichi Makoto, and Kurosawa Tomoya will be featured as the main cast of the show. You can check out the teaser PV for the anime right here.
Now, let’s move on to
What do I think?
Look, let me make this clear beforehand, I have not read this manga. But the thing is, Undead Girl Murder Farce is ticking a lot of boxes for me. Vampires in the classic 19th-century setting, a murder mystery with an interesting (sus) detective, and all that is a combination that I really would love to see. And this anime is delivering that so of course, I have hopes for it. Gong through the teaser, I like the character designs too which is a nice bonus.
The only thing that concerns me is that the studio making it is not particularly experienced. They have worked on a total of 8 projects, I believe? And their most famous work is not even a full anime as it was an OVA for Wotakoi. On the positive side though, the director they picked is spot on. Omata Shinichi has worked on a lot of amazing anime in the past.
Conclusion
So yeah, let me know what you guys think in the comments. That is all for now. I think Undead Girl Murder Farce could be an interesting anime and I look forward to it. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
