So I did a list of bad anime that came from good games and a lot of people didn’t like my choice of putting the Devil May Cry anime on the list but I’m going to say this again, DMC deserves much better than the anime it got. This once though, you won’t be able to argue with my picks because the games I’m about to list are really bad and have outright bad reviews.
It is common for a famous anime to receive a game tie-in while these vary from average to good most of the time (there are a few really good games too); there are these 5 games that are just terrible. So without wasting any more time, let’s get started with the list:
Most of Beyblade Games

Now, this is a little cheating but this is the only time I’m doing it on this list. From the next entry onwards, I will mention a particular game and not a series. Now, I don’t need to explain why a well-done Beyblade game can be fun. Imagine playing through the awesome battles watching in a game, of course, it’s gonna be fun. But for some reason, we have only got mediocre Beyblade till now. Most of the time, they fail monumentally in the gameplay department and sometimes even screw up the story.
This is really disappointing as a Beyblade game can really be fun and people will go crazy if a good Beyblade game is ever made. Everyone knows about Beyblade a quite a few people would love to bask in the nostalgia if a good Beyblade game is made.
Naruto Shippuden: Dragon Blade Chronicles

Naruto has a lot of great games. The Ultimate Ninja Storm series is a prime example. All of the Ultimate Ninja Storm games are just amazing and really well done. But then, there’s this game. Dragon Blade chronicles a fresh story with Naruto and Sasuke teaming up to hunt down the legendary Genryuu. This is a good idea for a story but, the clunky and unresponsive paired up with the many technical issues completely ruined this game. Still though, unlike Beyblade, there are plenty of good games to distract us from the few bad ones.
One Piece: Grand Cruise

One Piece again has a fair share of really good games but, what went wrong with this one is the fact that it is a VR game. If you’re even a little knowledgeable about VR games, you’d know that most of them are complete garbage. For one or another reason, almost all VR games in existence are really bad. Unfortunately, this game is no exception to this trend. On paper it sounds so good; imagine an open-world One Piece in VR! It could have been so good but, the world is empty and the game has little to no content. There’s literally nothing to do in the open world. There are few fun parts but they are over really quick and there is nothing else left to do in the game after that.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Destiny Board Traveler

As anime is based around a game, Yu-Gi-Oh has a fair share of games and some of them are just amazing. Then there are a few games like Destiny Board Traveler that are just awful. What this game did was it took all the rules of the franchise and just flushed it down the toilet. It is a board game with painfully slow mechanics. Now, I am not sure if you know this or not but, anime board games can really be fun if done right in both digital and physical iterations. Sadly, Destiny Board Traveler has all the things that make a board game bad and as a result, the game is very slow and just outright boring.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire

Gundam is long-running series and obviously has a lot of video game tie-ins. Some of the games like Side Story 0079 and Battle Assault 2 are just amazing; there are a few really bad games too. The worst game would definitely have to be Crossfire. Gundam games are known for their gameplay so a Gundam game with bad gameplay and clunky controls is bound to fail. There wasn’t a single good thing about this game. Outdated graphics, bad voice acting, bad AI, bad story… the list keeps ongoing. This is definitely the rock bottom of Gundam games. Weirdly enough though, the Japanese version of this game had fairly better reviews and sales. Does anyone know why? Let me know in the comments if you know the reason.
Well, that is my list for the worst anime games of all time. I may do part 2 of this list because there are quite a few bad anime games and I won’t be able to cover them in a single list. Let me know your picks on the comments and tell me the answer to the question I asked earlier if you know the answer. As usual, stay tuned for more articles, and do not forget to check our awesome art section. With that being said, I will take my leave. See ya!!
