Last year was really bad for everyone huh? All movies, mangas, and even some anime and games were delayed because of the damn pandemic and lockdown. Ok, ok I accept I don’t have a problem with the lockdown since I love staying in my home but I don’t like when an anime or manga I was looking forward to is delayed.
Thankfully, this year things look better and I would hate if any of the upcoming movies are delayed. I mean we have a lot of movies coming up and a few of them look really good and honestly excited about a lot of movies. I really hope they are going to release in my country too. All that aside, for now, let’s look at 5 of the best upcoming movies.
Fate/Series Movies
Ok, this is a bit of cheating but I don’t feel like giving 2 spots to the fate series. So there are 2 upcoming Fate Movies: Fate/Grand Order Solomon and Fate/Kalied Liner Movie. I am really excited about both the movies. Looks like the Kalied Liner will be in a more serious tone like the 3rd season of the anime.
Solomon would be a real challenge to animate as in the Solomon part was a bunch of boss fights so I am really curious how they handle it. The Solomon movie would probably have better animations than Kalied Liner. I mean Babylonia had such beautiful animations and if I remember correctly the same studio is making Solomon. Well, all we can do is wait and watch for now. Both movies are coming up in the summer season.
Sword Art Online: Progressive
Progressive is a more in-depth look at the Aincrad arc of SAO Season 1. I have said this before and I will say it again, Aincrad was the best arc in all of SAO. So yeah, I am really excited about this movie since we’ll revisit Aincrad.
From the trailers and art I have seen, the overall art style and animations look much better than the original. The progressive movie will be more centered on Asuna instead of Kirito. It’ll be fun to see good old AIncrad in fresh new animations. It’s coming out in this year’s fall season most probably.
Dragon Ball Super Movie
The other Dragon Ball Super movies were just awesome. This new movie (which doesn’t have a proper title yet) is meant to be a sequel to the highly acclaimed Broly movie. That alone is enough to create hype in everyone who has watched Broly. Goes without saying, this movie will be a blast.
That’s not all; we have Toriyama-sensei working in this movie too. That means this movie will also be canon like Broly. Oh yeah, now we can be sure this movie will be awesome. There is not much information about the movie yet but it is coming sometime next year.
MadokaMagica Movie 4
The first 2 Madoka movies were a retelling of the original anime and then the 3rd movie continued the story. The 4th movie is obviously a sequel to the 3rd movie. Does Urobuchi sensei ever run out of ideas? The 3rd movie was just awesome and is better than the original anime which is also very good. Honestly, I did not think it was possible to beat the original anime then I watched the 3rd movie and I was “holy shit, this man seriously managed to beat himself”.
So yes, very excited for the 4th movie especially because Shaft is animating it once again. The 4th movie was announced on Madoka’s 10th anniversary and set to release…. Well, we don’t even have a tentative release date for this yet. But I believe it’ll come out sometime next year.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0
What else can top off a Gen Urobuch work except this? I have heard so many good things about JJK0 manga. This movie’s plot later becomes relevant in JJK proper. This movie is about how Gojou-sensei found the protégé OkkotsuYuuta.
Okkotsu is mentioned by a lot of characters in the JJK anime including Gojou-sensei himself. Gojou-sensei believes Okkotsu will surpass him someday. That is saying a lotsince we all know how strong Gojou-sensei is. I am sure Mappa animations will be firing on all cylinders in this movie. It’s gonna be awesome. JJK0 has a confirmed release date of 24th December. Christmas Eve huh?
