Gundam is undoubtedly one of the most influential and famous anime series. I don’t think the series itself needs any introduction in this day and age. Even after all these years, the series is still going strong which is very commendable. And works like The Witch from Mercury contribute a lot to its long age. And The Witch from Mercury Season 2 has been an amazing follow-up so far.
So welcome back to another one of my mid-season reviews. Today we will be taking a look at The Witch from Mercury Season 2 or Suisei no Majo. Again, whatever title you prefer. I jumped on this series fairly recently. I am quite the Yuri fan so I wasn’t going to miss this anyways lol. But I really didn’t expect this series to turn out as well as it did. Season 1 was good but Season 2 is just something else. So let’s talk about it.
What do I think about The Witch from Mercury Season 2?
G Witch has quickly been climbing up my favorite Gundam series list thanks to season 2 man. Let me start off by saying if you are new to the Gundam series, G Withc is a really good entry point. You don’t need to watch any of the previous seasons to get the amazing plot of G Witch and I am certain that this series will get you hooked to Gundam.
The Gundam plot pattern is more or less the same for every series, but it varies wildly thanks to the different styles of execution. G Witch really shows how much the series has matured since its inception. The plot of G Witch season 2 is more mature and gritty. I love how all of the corporation politics and power struggles are coming into play. The seeds for this were sown in season 1 and season 2 is nurturing these plants and feeding us the sweet fruit that grows on them.
Of course, the fights are amazing as well. It’s a Gundam series! It won’t be a Gundam series if didn’t have those signature mecha fights right? The fights are smooth, and fast and they look absolutely beautiful thanks to Sunrise Studios pouring their hearts out on this one. The opening theme is pretty good, I personally liked the first opening more but the ending theme though? That is even better, definitely head and shoulders above the other OPs/EDs in this series.
Conclusion
I am absolutely smitten with G Witch and I really want this series to get some more recognition. Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Season 2 takes an easy 8.5/10 from me for now. I cannot wait to see more of this season. I did an article on G Wicth previously, which you can check out here. With that said though, I will take my leave here. See ya!!
