Alright, it is the final stretch of the Summer 2023 season. Most of the airing anime are only left with 2-3 episodes to go in the season. And everyone is slowly kicking into the final gear. Mushoku Tensei delivers once again with the touching, albeit a little awkward reunion of Sylphie and Rudy.
Bungou Stray Dogs continues to drive me mad with the absurd cliffhangers. Undead Girl Murder Farce continues the promising werewolf arc. The Bleach TYBW adaptation keeps spoiling us as always, some more answers and explanations in My Happy Marriage. And last but not least, a banger Jujutsu Kaisen episode to top it all off.
We cheering for Sylphie this week! So yeah, all that and so much more as we look at my favorite episodes from the week. And it is the 11th Week of the Summer 2023 season. So let’s get started right away!
My Happy Marriage Episode 11
Finally, we got some more answers in this episode. We learned a lot about Miyo’s mother in this episode. And we also learned a lot about the inner workings of the Usuba family. Miyo’a abilities are apparently unlocked now and Arata even urges Miyo to use them to help Kiyoka. So it was a pretty story-heavy episode this was.
It wasn’t flashy like last week’s episode but Kiyoka is for sure such a badass. Arata is getting some pretty good character development too. He initially comes off as a villain in disguise or something. But from what we have seen so far, the only reason he is so obsessed with Miyo is because protecting her is like his purpose. He was basically raised for that lore. His character has so much more depth now compared to before.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 9
Finally got a solo Yuuji fight without Sukuna in this episode. Otherwise, there is always someone with him or Sukuna interferes somehow. This episode basically showed how capable Yuuji himself has become now. Even Me Mei praises him. I know that the Grasshopper spirit looked like a chump but it was kind of a big deal. Curses being able to talk and hold a proper conversation is actually a big deal. And Yuuji pretty much squashed the bug.
On the other side, Shibuya shenanigans continue as Gojo sensei is seemingly being lured into a trap. I am not sure if he is aware of that or not but it should be fun to see what happens next week Gojo does look confident, I just hope he knows what he is in for.
Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5 Episode 10
Spoiler warning
I hate this episode for what it did to me. I could not sleep yesterday because of this episode. It ended on several cliffhanger situations. The tensions were at an all-time high and they just ended the episode right there. Yep, gotta wait till next week now t find out what happened to some of the characters. I have no idea how many of our beloved characters will even survive this season.
I have no idea how BSD is even managing to top itself every week. Every week I think it won’t get better than this but nah, a twist happens, and the whole course of the plot changes and the stakes keep getting higher and higher every week. And then end on some crazy cliffhanger smh.
Bleach TYBW Part 2 Episode 10
Mayuri is such a douchebag, I love him. He owned Gissle and Zombie Hitsugaya like they were nothing. It is insane how fast Mayuri can kill a captain-level opponent if he has prep time. He literally took over Giselle’s zombies and used them for fighting. Even Byakuya called him out for it but the reason he gave Byakuya was so impeccable. I really liked that conversation.
Byakuya got some pretty cool new fight scenes himself. The episode also ended up with things in the Sereitei clearing up so the next episode should feature Yhwach vs. the Zero Division. Man, I hope they extend that fight too.
Undead Girl Murder Farce Episode 11
The Warewolf arc has been really good so far. It is not as action-packed as the previous arc, it is focused more on the case itself like the first arc. And I really like it so far. Episode 11 is the 3rd episode in the arc, Shizuku has been trying her best to clear up things in the Warewolf village and get them to trust her and Aya. But things haven’t been going smoothly.
I also like how the werewolves have developed their own culture far from human society. Them having a village is one thing but they have a whole different trial system and all. Small things like that add so much to the overall world-building of the series. Great episode once again.
Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 11
Even though this episode was kind of awkward to watch in the last few moments, I really love that Rudy and Sylphie are back together. Sylphie has so many nice little character moments in this episode. Her relationship dynamic with Ariel was also explored which is nice and wholesome to watch. Seeing her give funny answers to Ariel’s genuine questions really had me on the floor LOL. The whole scene of her ideal relationship with Rudy was funny as hell.
No big fights or lore drops in this episode, no shocking moments or anything like that. It was just a fun heartfelt episode and you can’t help but feel good for Sylphie by the end. The poor girl went through a lot of struggles of her own.
