Key takeaways from Solo Leveling news:
- Solo Leveling, a popular manhwa, is highly anticipated as an upcoming anime adaptation scheduled to premiere in January 2024.
- The main cast and director for the Solo Leveling anime have been announced, with Taito Ban taking on the role of Sung Jin-Woo and Shunsuke Nakashige directing the series.
- Despite concerns about the voice cast, fans are excited for the release of Solo Leveling and hope that Crunchyroll does justice to the source material, unlike the Tower of God anime.
This is one of the most successful Manhwa out there. Even if you’re not into Manhwa, you’ve definitely at least heard of Solo Leveling. The moment an anime adaptation was announced for it, the community went crazy. I am pretty sure that it is the most anticipated anime of the winter 2024 season.
We got some info on it earlier this year. You know, things like the release window and the studio and stuff. But we didn’t get any of the cast. Anime Expo finally gave us some more updates on it.
So welcome back to another news article, and let’s talk about Solo Leveling today! Got a good bit of updates, so let’s get into it!
What do we know about the Solo Leveling anime?
Crunchyroll had its stage at the Anime Expo, of course. So they revealed the first promo and the main cast for this anime. The anime will be directed by Shunsuke Nakashige at A1 Pictures. The main cast features Taito Ban, Hiroki Touchi, Genta Nakamura, Reina Ueda, Daisuke Hirakawa, and Banjou Ginga. As announced earlier, the anime is scheduled to premiere in January 2024.
You can check out the new PV here. Feels so good to finally see a trailer for this series. And with this bit of news, we pretty much know everything about the anime aside from stuff like the exact release date, supporting cast, and opening/ending themes. I am sure those will be announced in the coming months as well. The anime is still almost six months away, after all.
That is about all the news for now. So let’s move on to
The choice of the voice cast is interesting. Taito Ban, for example, has only done random mob characters to this point; the only main character I found in his work history was Fujimiya Amane from The Angel Next Door. So I am not sure how well he would do in the role of Sung Jin-Woo. He does sound alright in the trailer, though, so hopefully it should be fine. I am going to guess that he is relatively new in the industry and is trying to get big roles.
Now that aside, they did pick a good director for the show. Shunsuke Nakashige has worked on a lot of stuff, including Chainsaw Man, Attack on Titan, and Re: Zero. Sure, those were not directorial roles, but the experience counts. All that technical stuff aside, though, as a general fan, I am hyped for this anime. I really cannot wait to see it. And hopefully, Crunchyroll does it justice this time around, and it doesn’t end up like the Tower of God anime.
That is all for now, though. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. Despite all my worries, I can’t deny that I am very hyped for Solo Leveling, and you should be too. Don’t let my concerns spoil your excitement for this anime. Cause if done right, it may just be the biggest hit of next year. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
