Slam Dunk is a rather old manga/anime. It is about basketball of course as the title suggests. It is definitely one of the best sports mangas out there. The manga came out all the way back in 1990. It was published in 1996 in Weekly Jump. It has a total of 31 volumes.
The anime is also rather old it came out in 1993 and had 101 episodes. The series also had 4 short movies featuring side stories. The old movies came out in 1994. So overall, the series is pretty damn old so seeing it get some love all these years later is rather refreshing. Here are all the details we know about the movie
What do we know about the new Slam Dunk Movie?
I have no idea what part of the manga the new movie is going to adapt. We only have a teaser trailer and some other interesting information regarding the movie yet. They have not decided on a title for the movie yet. It is only called Slam Dunk Movie for now.
What we do know is that the movie will be coming out in fall 2022. Toei Animation opened a new official site for this movie and revealed details of the various staff members. The original creator of the manga, Takehito Inoue is doing the direction and scripting of the movie himself. You can check out the teaser here. Doesn’t have much like all teasers but the music is really cool.

Expectations
I just have a feeling this movie is going to be awesome. Well, I agree that we will have to wait till next year to watch the movie but you know what, it’s fine. I am pretty sure the movie will be well worth the wait. Slam Dunk is a really good manga. It is a shonen manga so of course, it is paced really well.
Pair the good art of the manga with new animations and the original creator at the helm of the project, I don’t see this movie being bad in any way. The teaser actually gave me a high expectation for the soundtrack of the movie. The teaser music is just so damn good and it suits the theme of the series pretty well.
So yeah, overall I think this movie is going to be really cool. I am sure old fans of the series are happy to see this series getting some love once again. I also think that if the movie does well, we may see some more projects like this in the future. But who can say for certain?
