So when I first saw this anime’s key visual, I thought for a moment that it was something related to Oregairu… So imagine my surprise when I find out that this is actually a yuri anime. I read 2 or 3 chapters of the manga and I swear Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau looks like an Oregairu yuri fanfic… and guess what? It is actually quite decent and not just a random yuri bait.
So welcome back to… I don’t know what to even call this article. I guess “Put This On Your Radar” will be the most fitting cause I am talking about an upcoming anime… But, I am not sure. Well, welcome back to another one of my articles, today let’s take a look at Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau. I will start off with the introduction and the news. And then my ramblings as usual. So let’s start.
About Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau and its Anime Adaptation
The manga is written and illustrated by Takeshima Eku. Of course, it is a yuri or girl’s love manga. It started serialization in February 2018 and is still ongoing. Whispering You a Love Song (as it is called in English) is serialized in the Comic Yuri Hime magazine fittingly enough… It is quite highly rated and the friends I talked to, had some good things to say about it.
Now as for the anime, it was recently announced by the official Twitter yesterday (13th January). We got a bunch of details about the anime including the main staff and cast. The show will star Hana Shimano and Asami Seto as the main duo. The show is being helmed by Xinya Cai at Cloud Hearts studios, who have only worked on one anime before this. So we will see how it turns out.
My Thoughts
From what I’ve read so far, this manga definitely has a lot of potential. It will be up to the director if they can bring it out or not. I am just worried that they may change this anime into plain old yuri bait even though the source material is so much more than that. Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau is an actually good romance manga. It is so good in fact that I can say with confidence that I would eventually check it out even if it wasn’t yuri.
So how good the anime ends up being, completely depends on the studio and the direction it gets. Unfortunately, I don’t know much about the studio or the director here to comment much on them. But we will see more updates on this anime soon enough that’s for sure. This will most likely release either later this year or early next year.
