Ok, what the hell is going on? This is the 2nd unexpected announcement this week. Even if we don’t know a lot about it yet, this announcement itself is a big deal. NieR: Automata is getting an anime?! Who in their right mind would’ve thought this would actually happen. I know the series has been getting LN and manga adaptations and that a lot of people wanted this anime. But, I don’t think anyone thought we’d actually get one.

But now, there is no room for doubt as we have an official confirmation. Before getting into the announcement itself, I think some people may not know what NieR: Automata is. So I’ll begin with a short introduction of the game. I still can’t believe this is actually happening.

About NieR: Automata

NieR: Automata is the 5th game made by the famous Yoko Taro as a sequel to the Drakengard series and NieR: Replicant. You don’t need to play any of the previous games to enjoy this one though. The previous games only explain how the world reached the point you see in NieR: Automata; aside from that the stories are unrelated. This game itself has a really mind-bending story; the game really makes you question what it means to be human. This is very ironic because there is not a single human in the game.

Nier: Automata is developed by Platinum Games and published by Square Enix. It is known for its complex story, mind tricks, beautiful visuals and sound design, and Platinum Games’ signature over-the-top action. It is worth every minute you put into it.

About the NieR: Automata anime

There isn’t a lot of information regarding the anime yet. What basically happened is, there was NieR: Automata’s 5th-anniversary live stream earlier today (23rd Feb). So Square Enix announced in the live stream that NieR: Automata is getting an anime that will be produced by Aniplex. That’s all they told us; no information about the staff or the studio. Heck, we don’t even know if the anime will adapt the game’s main story or it will be some side story.

They also did give us an announcement teaser but that’s all.

So basically every NieR: Automata fan is high on expectations and copium basically. Speaking of which…

Expectations and Copium

Here comes this part again. Again, the dose of copium is bound to be higher than last time. I really hope they keep the soundtrack from the game because that shit is beautiful. It is some of the best video game music I have ever heard in my 20 years of life. Aside from that, I hope they don’t do 3d animations and it is in proper anime style.

As far as the story goes, I really don’t care as long as the above 2 things are taken care of. Because Yoko Taro is a genius and he will make sure that even if it is a side story, it will be good. NieR: Automata is a masterpiece of a video game and I really hope that this anime does justice to it. Here’s another high dose of copium: I hope that WIT Studio takes over the project because I feel they’re free at the moment. But, that probably won’t happen.

Conclusion

That is all for now. Let me know what you think in the comments. Funnily enough, we did an article about games that deserve an anime some time ago, and NieR: Automata was one of them; yeah. With that said though, I will take my leave here. See ya!
