I knew about this anime for quite some time now because of all the memes. I mean if you’ve been in the anime community for a while now, chances are you have at least seen one meme from this anime. My Senpai is Annoying is chock-full of memes and funny moments like that. Making it a really good anime to watch if you just want to take it easy and relax.
So welcome back to another edition of our anime recommendation series! This week we are talking about My Senpai is Annoying! As I said, this is an anime I started watching fairly recently. And of course, I enjoyed it a lot. So let’s get right into it.
Introduction
My Senpai is Annoying is based on the web manga of the same name by Shiromanta. It started serialization in March 2018 and is still ongoing. The anime is made by Doga Kobo studios and aired back in the fall season of 2021. It is just one cour or 12 episodes long and has no sequel announced as of now. As you may expect, it is an SOL/romantic comedy anime.
Plot
Well, there is not much in terms of plot in My Senpai is Annoying. Igarashi Futaba, contrary to her appearance is actually an adult and she works at a reputed trading company. In her job, she’s often helped by Takeda, her senior coworker, the titular senpai. The show continues as their and a few other people’s relationships develop.
My Senpai is Annoying has a pretty typical SOL romance anime plot. As you might aspect, the plot is not very complicated or anything, it is just there. It serves its purpose but it isn’t necessarily the main attraction of the anime. Still, though, there are some interesting aspects to it here and there and a few story moments are really well executed.
Characters
These are the real bread and butter of an SOL anime. Characters are what make an SOL anime entertaining and that is exactly the case here as well. My Senpai is Annoying has a small cast of 5-6 important characters and all of their characters are brought out really well throughout the season. The characters interactions are really fun to watch too and Takeda my boy is an absolute unit.
Animations and Soundtracks
My Senpai is Annoying has a pretty cool art style. I really love a lot of the character designs. They are quite different from what we generally see in the animes like these. The animations are pretty average but they do give a lot of fun meme expressions here and there. The soundtracks are pretty average as well but that opening theme is just awesome. The ending theme is pretty cute as well but the opening theme is such a banger.
