I am sorry, I canย notย stay away from a romance series whenever I smell a good one. And yes, this one looks very interesting. The setting of old Japan alone is enough to make My Happy Marriage different from other rom-coms. I don’t think any of the romance anime have tried this period drama-style setting unless isekai or games are involved in it somehow.
That setting is what drew me to this anime. An interesting setting with a seemingly wholesome plot, what is there not like?
So welcome back to another edition of Put This on Your Radar – the show where I take a look at the upcoming anime that caught my eye. And today, of course, we are talking about My Happy Marriage. So let’s get started.
What do we know about My Happy Marriage anime?
The anime will be based on the ongoing novel of the same name by Agitogi Akuni. Yes, a proper novel, not a light novel. The anime will be made by Kinema Citrus, the studio behind stuff like Shield Hero, Barakamon, Code: Breaker, etc. It will be directed by Kubota Takehiro, who has worked on stuff like Bisco, Dorohedoro, etc. The anime will start airing on 5th July and it will feature Kaito Ishikawa and Ueda Reina as the main duo.
As for the story, we follow Miyo. She has had a terrible life. She was born from a loveless arranged political marriage and after her mother passed away, she was basically treated like a servant. And as such, even her marriage is political and it is with a general who has basically scared away all her potential marriage partners till now. But to her surprise, what awaits Miyo is actually a happy marriage. You can check out the latest PV for it here.

My Thoughts
Not much to say here. The plot is pretty straightforward, what interests me in this anime is the time period it is set in. I think that can add a nice differentiation factor to this anime and make it really entertaining if used right. My Happy Marriage should satisfy the romance craving of people like me at the very least if nothing else. I do hope it is as good as I think though and it blows everyone away.
