So surprisingly enough, it was my boss who recommended me this manga. He usually recommends me some really good stuff so I jumped right into it. And I have to say, this is pretty entertaining. I really do like a good rom-com and this manga scratches that itch perfectly. The Dangers in My Heart is a pretty simple straightforward rom-com SOL manga, if you like this kind of stuff, you will like this too.
So welcome back to another edition of our manga recommendation series. This week we are talking about The Dangers in my Heart or Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu. Let’s get started right away.
Introduction
The Dangers in My Heart is written and illustrated by Norio Sakurai. The manga is being published in Weekly Shonen Champion from 8th March 2018, then it shifted to Champion Cross and then again to Manga Cross. Yes, it is still ongoing with volume 6 and chapter 57 being the latest ones. There is also an anime adaptation for this manga announced, it is planned for sometime in 2023. So I look forward to that.
I mean what can I say? You guys know I am usually not overly critical of stuff, I like to put my mind to rest and enjoy when I read a manga/watch an anime. That is not to say I don’t enjoy complex plots, but still. The Dangers in My Heart fits well into that place for me though.
Plot
The Dangers in My Heart is a simple rom-com SOL. The protagonist, Kyotaro is a recluse, and a loner and often dreams of killing his popular classmates. Let’s be honest here, we’ve all thought of that at least once in our lives. This guy even goes as far as to study human anatomy to sharpen his imagination. At the top of his list is Anna, the class idol. But, once he gets to know her, both of them become friends and warm up to each other.
That’s the base plot of The Dangers in My Heart. You should have a general idea of where things go from there on. It is a pretty straightforward rom-com after all. There are some cliches and some moments are genuinely fun.
Characters
I have to say though, unlike a lot of other rom-coms, the main duo in The Dangers of My Heart is really interesting. As I described earlier, Kyotaro is pretty serious about his fantasies. No, he won’t actually kill someone but, he does have a few screws loose. So it is fun to see him interact with someone who is very quirky in her own way, Anna. Their interactions are really well done and do a good job of blowing life into the plot.
Art
Not much to say here. The Dangers in My Heart has a pretty good art style, it is quirky and bright; I love it. The art itself is also rather good. Nothing stands out too much but it feels good to look at. Some of the fine details in the art are rather well done too.
Why should you read The Dangers in My Heart?
Quick pointers on why should check out this anime:
- Good art
- Great characters
- Interesting plot
- Really fun
Conclusion
Well, that is all for now. The Dangers in My Heart is a surprisingly good series, if you like rom-coms like me you’ll be hooked to it soon. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. And I will take my leave here. I’ll go play some Oblivion. See ya!!
