Well, let’s talk about this today okay? People have been singing high praises for this series ever since the anime came out. Are those worth it? Yes, they are. The plot of this manga is crazy. You don’t expect a plot this good from a rom-com manga. Kakkou no Iinazuke is not your average rom-com, it plays really well with confusion and misunderstandings in its plot.
So welcome back to another edition of our manga recommendation series. This week we are talking about Kakkou no Iinazuke. This is quite the series, so strap in. Let’s talk about it today.
Introduction
Kakkou no Iinazuke manga is written and illustrated by Yoshikawa Miki. It has been published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine since 29th January 2019. Currently, the manga has 11 volumes or 109 chapters released. The series is of course, still ongoing. This has to be one of the most plot-intensive harem/romance anime I’ve seen.
As I said, Kakkou no Iinazuke is characterized by a very good plot. The pacing of the plot makes it really hit home too. The plot is also closely intertwined with the characters and their writing, making it a very strong plot. So let’s talk about it in detail. Do keep in mind, that I will be keeping the plot summary vague on purpose. This is to preserve the shock value of the series.
Plot
Kakkou no Iinazuke follows Umino Nagi, a guy who got exchanged for another kid in the hospital when he was born. As a result, he is not raised by his biological parents. He grows up in a rather poor household and has a knack for studying as a result of this and one other thing. He eventually does meet his real parents but little did Nagi know that both of his parents have something different planned for him.
As I said, I am being very vague here on purpose. Those who have read the manga or watched the first episode of the anime will know why. Well, Kakkou no Iinazuke very much needs that surprise element to hit home. I am just trying to preserve that element of the series. As I said, the series is pretty plot intensive and the plot is what separates this from an average harem/romance series.
Characters
Kakkou no Iinazuke has some really good characters. The character development is very closely linked to the plot so, I will keep it spoiler-free here too. Nagi is definitely one of the better harem MCs I’ve seen. I can completely understand why someone would find him attractive. He is a really dedicated guy and he has plenty of redeeming qualities. Aside from him, I really love how Erika’s character has grown. She comes off as a spoiled brat but is actually a very nice person.
Art
This is all subjective but, Kakkou no Iinazuke has some really good art. I really like the character designs in this series. Granted, Nagi isn’t a particularly good-looking MC but the girls tho? They’re really something. You know thick thighs save lives. Aside from that, there is nothing that special in terms of the art or the background details and stuff. It is some good art nonetheless.
Why you should read Kakkou no Iinazuke?
Quick pointers on why you should check out this anime:
- Great plot
- Good characters
- Lots of twists
- Good MC
- Great art
Conclusion
That is all for now. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I started this manga after the latest episode of the anime and I have to say, it really hooks you up. I like the series so far. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!!
