Not to be confused with Mahoustukai no Yome, the WIT anime adaptation of the ongoing manga. Mahoustukai no Yoru is another entry in massive Type-Moon verse penned by the famous Kinoko Nasu. The Type-Moon verse is mostly known for one massive Fate/Series, Tsukihime and Kara no Kyoukai but, there are still a lot of VNs/LNs or just games under Type-Moon’s belt that haven’t gotten the anime love.
Mahoutsukai no Yoru is probably the most famous series among Type-Moon fans after the 3 popular once hence, it is the first in line among the lesser-known Type-Moon franchises to get an anime. Mahoustukai no Yoru’s anime adaptation news literally came out of nowhere and has been a great surprise to us Type-Moon fans. I can’t wait to see Aoko in animation. All that aside here is all we know about the movie for now.
What do we know about the Mahoustukai no Yoru Movie?
Aniplex announced a movie adaptation for Type-Moon’s Mahoutsukai no Yoru literally out of nowhere just today (27th December). Talk about an awesome belated Christmas gift. This announcement literally went like the chad famous meme,
- Randomly announces anime adaptation of a famous VN
- Refuses to elaborate further
- And just leaves.
Animplex people being absolute chads. And true to this above pattern, they didn’t give us any more details. We only have a teaser visual and teaser trailer. Type-Moon and UFOTable might as well have a contract at this point because UFOTable will be one animating Mahoustuaki no Yoru. You can check out the teaser here and that’s about all Aniplex told us.
Before I even begin saying something, can I just say how beautiful the teaser looks? WTF UFOTable, I get it is a very simple shot but you didn’t need to go this hard on a single teaser! If this is the standard they are going to carry in for the movie, then I am not concerned at all about the animations. Mahoutsukai no Yoru has some moments that will look stunning with these animations. So, I am sure UFOTable will nail them perfectly.
Animations aren’t a concern at all when it comes to stuff regarding UFOTable. What I am concerned about is how they will adapt to the VN. From the Fate/Stay Night UBW and HF adaptations, it is clear that UFOTable has some trouble in keeping monologues in the anime. The protagonist of Mahoutsukai no Yoru, Soujuurou is a very monologue-heavy character and he is not very vocal about his feelings like Shirou is. So I am definitely curious to see how they will remedy this problem because you can’t have VN-level monologues in anime, especially in a movie.
As for the release date, I’d say Mahoutsukai no Yoru should show sometime around late next year; in the fall season, I’d say. That is just a loose guess though because movies have much more flexible release windows compared to anime.
That’s it for now. Let me know your thoughts down in the comments. I’d love to know how many people know about Mahoutsukai no Yoru. So, stay tuned for more content and with that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!!
