Winter 2023 has been a great season for anime. We have some really good shows this season and Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and The Genius Young Lady is right there among the best. I don’t think any one of us expected this anime to be as good as it is. It looked like another isekai with a plain story, some action, and yuri. But no, the plot progression really took us for a ride.
So welcome back to another one of my reviews. Today let’s talk about the Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and The Genius Young Lady. An anime I expected to be another yuri bait but, it turned out to be so so good and it didn’t make romance stuff feel awkward or shoehorned at all. So let’s get into the specifics.
The plot starts off like many of those “otome game” isekais, the fiance of the prince is rejected for a lower nobility girl. In this case, we have our princess, the elder sister of the prince, Anisphia who saves the rejected girl, Euphie. You would think that it’d continue like normal and they’d eventually fall for each other. NO! Nothing is normal here. Even the lower nobility girl the prince left Euphie for was not normal. The prince himself has different objectives which I won’t spoil here.
So yeah, safe to say, the plot will always bait you into thinking that you know how the story will play out then do something you did not expect. The last 3 or 4 episodes have been the pinnacle of that sentiment. It is a really good plot and I really enjoyed the ride it put me through. Came for the yuri, and stayed for the plot. I wish we got more info about Magicology but still, the plot is really good.
Magical Revolution doesn’t have that many characters but it does a great job of bringing out the main characters. Anis’s character development throughout the series has been so good. Euphie and Anis get so much character development in the last few episodes. And their relationship is so well developed too; they start out as just friends but by the end, they cannot bear to be separated from one another. Tilty, man, she comes off as an edge lord but she is such a nice character too. Episode 11 really showcases her and Anis’s relationship well.
Despite all his wrongdoings, you cannot bring yourself to hate Algard either once his motivations are revealed. He is a really good character too. I wish Anis’s parents got as much character writing as Grantz did. But, I am still more than satisfied with the cast of characters in Magical Revolution.
Animations and Soundtracks
Now, this is where the should could’ve used some more upgrades. The animations are not particularly good. They are pretty average. I do like the art style and character designs but the animations are pretty average. Nothing to write home about. The same goes for soundtracks. The opening theme is good but aside from that… they’re pretty “eh”.
Here are my final scores for The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and The Genius Young Lady:
- Plot – 9/10
- Characters – 8/10
- Animations – 6/10
- Soundtracks – 6/10
- Enjoyment – 9/10
- Another great yuri anime – 10/10
- Overall – 8.5/10
Those were my thoughts and opinions on The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and The Genius Young Lady. Of course, this is all subjective, so let me know how you feel in the comments. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!!
