Key takeaways from Loving Yamada at Lv999 – First Impressions:
- The anime “Loving Yamada at Lv999” has a misleadingly cheesy English title, but the actual anime is surprisingly mature in tone, dealing with themes like the pain of a breakup.
- The female MC, Akane, undergoes character development in the first three episodes, starting off as depressed and seeking validation, but gradually returning to normal with the support of her roommate.
- The animations by Madhouse, the studio behind the anime adaptation, are good, and they have done a decent job of adapting the game portions of the manga. The opening theme is visually appealing, though the song may not be to everyone’s liking.
So I really don’t like the English title of this anime lol. it sounds really cheesy for whatever reason. But, I promise that this is actually pretty good. Loving Yamada at Lv999 sounds very cheesy on the surface but the anime itself is not cheesy. It is surprisingly mature in its tone and I do like that about it.
Welcome back to another edition of my first impressions articles. Today I will be talking about Loving Yamada at Lv999. I decided to hold out on talking about this anime for a while because I wanted to see how well the anime adaptation does. I have been keeping up with the manga for a while and even then, I still had fun watching the anime. So let’s talk about it.
What do I think about Loving Yamada at Lv999 so far?

Akane has some of the best expressions fr
I said that this anime is pretty mature in its tone, what did I mean by that? well, the story starts off with the female MC breaking up with her boyfriend. So I really like how this anime dealt with the pain of a breakup; now, I personally don’t know how it feels since I have been single forever, But, I think the things Akane went through describe the whole ordeal rather well.
Because of all that, Akane gets some pretty good character development in the first 3 episodes itself. Which is pretty nice. Initially, she was depressed, seeking validation from someone, and wanted someone to just keep her company and listen to her. By the end of episode 3, she’s finally starting to go back to normal after a good drink with her roommate. I really liked the ending of episode 3.
I won’t comment much on Yamada right now since the first few parts of this series aren’t really about him. He’s just there for now. He will have a bigger role eventually. Other than that, Madhouse is the one making this anime so of course, the animations are pretty good.
They also did a decent job of adapting the game portions of the manga. Because you know, most of the talking in-game happens in chat boxes you can’t just show chats in anime now, can you? The opening theme is alright, I didn’t really vibe with the song but the animation for it is pretty good.
Conclusion
So yeah, all in all, pretty good so far, Madhouse is doing a fairly good job and I look forward to future episodes because as my fellow manga readers would know, things get pretty interesting later on. Let me know what you guys think in the comments though and I will take my leave here. See ya!!
