YES! The KonoSuba anime is not dead yet! I honestly wasn’t expecting this spin-off announcement though. I knew they were going to announce season 3 sooner or later but, the spin-off announcement is a welcome surprise. If you guys dont know, they also announced the anime adaptation of the Megumin-centered spin-off of KonoSuba called: “Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Bakuen wo”. That is exactly what it sounds like lol.
I am thrilled today and I know I am a bit late to jump on this news but I’ve been busy, so please forgive me. There is not that much to talk about regarding the anime announcements, but let’s get the news section out of the way first. If we still have room after that, I’ll introduce you to the KonoSuba spin-off.
What do we know about KonoSuba Season 3?
They announced a new KonoSuba anime project quite a while ago. Last Saturday (28th May), there was a special program on the KonoSuba channel. They confirmed this “new” anime project to be the 3rd season of this beloved isekai. The series director is returning to head the 3rd season again. And the new season will be animated by a rather new studio called Drive. This is interesting because the first two seasons were made by Studio Deen and the movie was made by JC Staff. So why the change? Well, the main staff is mostly the same so I’m fine with it.
What do we know about the KonoSuba spin-off?
So the KonoSuba spin-off “Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Bakuen wo” was also announced in the special program along with the 3rd season. This spin-off follows the story of Mgumin in her younger days when she had just started learning explosion magic. The spin-off will also be made by the studio Drive. The original series director, Takaomi Kanasaki will be supervising this project while it will be directed by Yuujirou Abe. Abe has worked as the episode director of Kaguya-sama; this should very interesting to watch.
There were no release dates announced for either of the KonoSuba projects. These were just initial announcements so only the major staff was announced. Of course, all of the main cast will also reprise their respective roles. But, that is all the news we have on these projects for now and I really look forward to them.
Expectations
I am very excited. I am so happy that the KonoSuba anime has not yet been forgotten. We all nearly lost hope when we didn’t hear any update for a long time but, now we are finally here. I have no idea what is coming up in season 3 but, it doesn’t matter. It is gonna be fun either way. As for the spin-off, I am very interested in it. The whole idea of it being directed by Kaguya-sama’s director really piqued my interest. So yeah, I am very excited about both of these projects and I can’t wait to watch them.
