Key takeaways from Helck First Impressions:
- “Helck” is an enjoyable anime with a similar tone and MC personality to “Mashle.” The main character’s absurd strength and physical abilities make the series entertaining.
- The anime features a better setting than “Mashle,” with a tournament to determine the new Demon King, where the favorite contestant is a human and the brother of the hero who defeated the previous Demon King.
- Although the animation may not be exceptional, the series offers a basic yet intriguing plot with entertaining characters, earning a 7/10 for its entertainment value. The mysteries surrounding the winged knights and the hero’s view of humans add depth to the story.
I don’t know if you’ve watched it but, last season had this anime called Mashle. It was about this absurdly strong guy owning magicians with just his physical abilities alone. It was dumb and it was fun, nothing too deep but very enjoyable. Helck is kind of the successor to that for this season.
Both anime share a similar tone and the personality of the MCs are pretty similar as well. So if you liked Mashle in the last season, chances are you will enjoy this anime as well. Also, the main character looks like someone from the early parts of JoJo or Fist of the North Star which makes it even funnier.
So welcome back to another one of my first impressions articles, today I am talking about Helck. So let’s get started.
What do I think about Helck?
So starting, I think this anime has a better setting than Mashle. The previous Demon King was defeated by a human hero and now a tournament is being held to determine the new Demon King. But the thing is, the favorite contestant to win the tournament is a human. And not only that, he is the brother of the hero that defeated the previous Demon King lol. So the overseer of the tournament tries her best to stop Helck from winning but he continues to win match after match.
On the other side of things though, a Demon Lord is attacked and killed by some mysterious winged knights. They came from the human territory but it is unknown if those knights are humans or not. So after advice from a friend, the overseer of the tournament decides to change the final task to recapturing the lost Castle. So are the winged knights humans? Does the hero despise humans as he says? Well, watch the series to find out the answer to all that.
So a basic plot with a few intriguing elements combined with some entertaining characters like Vamirio, Hon, and Helck himself, this anime is really fun. Simple but fun. The animations are nothing to write home about but they’re of little matter when the anime itself is so entertaining.
Conclusion
That is all for now. This anime is entertaining to watch. It is not something I can express fully in this short article, this anime is worth experiencing yourself just because of how dumb fun it is. It gets a 7/10 from me critically speaking but that doesn’t take away from its entertainment value. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
