So 2021 is finally approaching its end and we have the fall season of anime now. And man, this year’s fall season is looking jam-packed with good stuff. I also can’t believe that this year is coming to an end so quickly and there are like only 2 and a half months remaining but, that is beside the point.
Fall 2021 anime though, I have to say aside from a few anime I was looking forward to, some anime genuinely surprised me. A few good anime were right under my radar but, thank god I noticed them. So here are my first impressions of the fall 2021 anime I liked.
Do keep in mind that at the time of writing, not all fall anime have come out and that only the first episode of the anime I am about to mention are out. With that said, let’s start.
Msuhoku Tensei – 2nd Cour

Let’s get the first big release of the season out of the way first. Mushoku Tensei is just as good as I expected if not better. Man listening to that “opening theme” brought back so many memories from back during the first cour. The plot also keeps getting better and better right in the first episode, something you’d not expect just randomly happens. Better keep watch; there is a lot of crazy stuff coming. I can’t wait for the anime to “open up” after the current Boyhood arc ends.
Muse Asia is once again airing the new episodes on their YouTube channel. Be sure to check them out.
Mieruko-chan

Speaking of Muse Asia, here’s another anime they are airing. It is also thanks to Muse Asia that I decided to check this anime out. Otherwise, it’d been one of those anime that I would have watched after the season ended. So Mieruku-chan is a horror-comedy anime and I have to say, it’s really well done. The first episode was one of the rare occasions when an anime managed to spook me out. At the same time though, it was really funny for some reason probably because of the protagonist’s reactions. It also has some really good animations.
I am so looking forward to seeing more of this anime.
Takt Op. Destiny

Takt Op. Destiny is probably the most hyped new anime of this season along with the next entry and Komi-san. Takt Op. Destiny is a collab project between 2 great studios, Mappa and Madhouse. So it goes without saying that this anime looks drop-dead gorgeous. The plot is also somewhat interesting and since they are practically using music to fight, the OST of this anime is just chef’s kiss good. Best way to describe this would be like a musical version of the Fate/Series in a post-apocalyptic setting.
Probably the best new anime of the season but, it has solid competition from the next entry. Oh and I forgot to mention, Ani-one Asia is airing this anime on their YouTube channel.
Platinum End

Another big new anime of the season, Platinum End was completely under my radar till I saw its authors. Platinum End manga is by Ohba Tsugumi and Obata Takeshi the same people who did Death Note and Bakuman. The moment I saw this, I was like “Holy shit, I need to check this out now”. And as expected, the first episode did not disappoint at all. I have no clue what is gonna happen next but, I got strong Darwin’s Game vibes from the setting and I like it. The animations are also amazing. They are done by a studio I haven’t heard of before but, it’s the same studio that did the Fate/Grand Order Camelot movies.
86 – Part 2

Ending on another big sequel of the season we have of course, 86. As expected once again, the anime did not disappoint. I am really surprised by how much Lena has grown since the first season. Man her character growth really did skyrocket and it is so noticeable now. As expected from 86, even the first episode revealed some plot-twisting stuff. I also love the anime staff maintained the continuity by making the first episode of season 2 open in a similar scene to the first episode of season 1.
Conclusion
That is it for now. Some of the other big titles of the season haven’t dropped yet namely, Demon Slayer, Komi-san, and World Trigger so I will do part 2 of this article when they do. Also, let me know if there is some other anime I should check out. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
