Wow, I really wasn’t expecting to see a sequel to Fairy Tail. I am pretty sure that at this point, everyone knows that the anime season 3 didn’t exactly go as per the manga and the manga had this entire sequel series after that. So when I saw this announcement, I was more than surprised. Who expected Fairy Tail anime to come back after all these years?
I mean the season 3 of the anime was literally titled “Final Series” so who in the world would think that they will be back for an adaptation of another arc right? Guess season 3 ain’t the “Final Series” anymore. Well, all that aside here is what we know about the new anime so far
What do we know about the Sequel?
On Saturday (11/09), there was this fan meeting Livestream event with the author of Fairy Tail, Hiro Mashima. The anime adaptation of the 100 Year Quest arc was announced in this Livestream. We don’t have any details regarding the anime yet but, I am pretty sure that the voice cast will remain the same; I can’t say anything about the studio though.
We do know about the plot of course since it has been a while since the 100 Years Quest manga started. It is set a year after the fight with Zeref and as the name suggests, it revolves around a 100 Year Quest that Natsu and his friends decided to accept. As you may know, 100 Year Quests are the hardest quests available to any guild, and only elite members are allowed to take part in them.

Expectations
To say that Fairy Tail is a divisive series would be a bit of an understatement. Some people absolutely hate it and then there are diehard fans that refuse to even accept a little criticism. I am among the minority who are neutral. I know the series has its faults yet, I enjoy it for what it is nonetheless.
My stance regarding the sequel anime will also be the same. I will watch it for sure but it’s not like I’m super excited regarding it or anything. I have read a little bit of the 100 Year Quest Manga and it’s just more of Fairy Tail stuff with better art. Yes, it is not Hiro Mashima who is drawing the 100 Year Quest manga; he is just doing the story. 100 Year Quest manga’s art is done by Atsuo Ueda. I am wishing that if the studio remains the same, they do take the new art style into account.
Except for that, what do you expect? It’s Fairy Tail we’re talking about. It will have fan service, comedy, some more crazy power-ups, and a few of those signature cliché twists. 100 Year Quest Arc just gives us more of this classic Fairy Tail stuff.
Conclusion
That is it for now. Let me know your thoughts on the 100 Year Quest arc anime down in the comments. Tell me if you’re excited about it or not. I personally will watch this anime but I am not super excited about it. Just another one I want to watch. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
