I have lost count of the times I have rewatched this anime lol. I absolutely love me some good comedy anime and this is one of my top 5 favorite comedy anime of all time. Daily Lives of High School Boys is nonsensical and funny as hell. And it makes for a truly memorable watch.

I don’t remember how I stumbled onto this series but it is amazing. I remember every single moment of this show and yet I never get tired of watching it.

Introduction

Daily Lives of High School Boys is based on the manga of the same name by Yamauchi Yasunobu. It was serialized in Gangan Online from May 2009 to September 2012. It is merely 7 volumes or 138 chapters long. The anime is made by Sunrise Studios and was aired in the Winter season of 2012. It is 12 episodes long with a few special episodes that serve as a sequel.

Plot

As the name suggests, this anime is an SOL comedy that presents the daily incidents of high school life in an exaggerated fashion. There is nothing more to the plot, it is silly and it is all about going with the flow. If you happen to be a male, you will most definitely relate to this anime. This anime knows male psychology too well. We all have done at least a few things from this anime in our high school days for sure.

That is why I love this anime. It is very much those embarrassing memories of high school presented in a very exaggerated fashion. That is what makes this anime very relatable and funny as hell. ‘Men will be men’.

Characters

I like that there is no set protagonist in this series. Instead, the series follows a group of three boys. As you might expect this makes for some amazing conversations and yep, they are really funny, Even putting aside the main trio, Daily Lives of High School Boys is full of memorable and funny side characters. Like the one girl who just sits on the river bank; she even made it onto the cover of the show which is hilarious.

Animations and Soundtracks

Sunrise is amazing. The opening theme of this anime perfectly encapsulates the feel of the anime. The song itself sounds like something you’d find in an action anime. But the animation for the opening is stupid and really reflects the Chuuni nature of the series, I love it. The animations themselves aren’t that great. An SOL is not about the animations anyways but it is small touches like these that contribute to the hilarity of this series.
