It was nowhere close to the level of the main story. So why do I think Coleus’ Dream will be any different? Well, I got a few reasons to believe that.
Welcome back to another edition of Put This on Your Radar—the series where we look at upcoming animes that caught out eyes. And today, of course, we have Coleus’ Dream. An anime original spin-off that will apparently be set between Seasons 1 and 2. So let’s talk about it!
What do we know about Coleus’ Dream?
This OVA, like Scarlet Bond, will be based on the short stories included by the author along with the Season 2 Blu-ray disks. The OVA will have 3 episodes and almost all of the staff and cast members are reprising their roles. Yes, that means the OVA will be made by 8 Bit studios. The OVA is scheduled to debut in the fall season!
As for the story, Rimuru is on a secret mission in the Kingdom of Coleus because of certain reasons. He has disguised himself as the Phantom Thief, Satoru. Satoru was the name he had in his previous life, which is pretty cool. The key visual also shows Luminous Valentine and the Primordial Violet so I guess it is fair to assume they will be involved in all this, somehow. Sadly, we don’t have a trailer or anything like that yet but, I will keep you updated.

My Thoughts
I think Coleus’ Dream is a pretty promising project. I don’t think it will have any kind of effect on the main story but, Luminous becomes an important character in the next arc. So if this OVA does a good job of setting up her character, the next arc of the main story will feel that much better. After all, that is what supplementary material is for, in my opinion, providing ways to enhance the main story or providing fun ‘what if’ scenarios.
So yeah, I think this OVA shows promise. Also, the opening theme will be performed by the voice actor Satoru, that is, Rimuru’s former self while the ending theme will be performed by his current voice actor. This is a pretty cool contrast. I really like Luminous as a character so I definitely look forward to seeing more of her.
