Sooo Beofuri Season 1 is still among my favorite game animes. It was hilarious as hell and I have rewatched it like 4-5 times and I still love it. So when a 2nd season was announced, I was really excited. But, Bofuri Season 2 kind of fell flat compared to Season 1 so if you see my earlier articles on it, I was really complaining about it. The thing is though, the 2nd half of the season is still really good.
So welcome back to another one of my reviews, today I am talking about Bofuri Seaosn 2. My opinion of this season has gone up quite a bit as it went on. I read a lot of reviews on this anime but almost none of them mentioned how good the 2nd half of this season actually is. So let’s get right into it.
Plot
I think season 1 had better plot pacing overall because the pacing was very uniform. Season 2’s pacing really fluctuates. In the first few episodes, the pacing is way too fast. We are going over floors in just one or two episodes, this takes away the importance of defeating a boss and it means we don’t have the same connection with the floors. The 2nd half has much better pacing once we start getting into the events and stuff.
It was really fun to see all the main characters fighting together in the events. Playing on each other’s strengths and clearing out dungeons. I wish that the first half had this kind of pacing too. Still, though, the 2nd half kind of makes up for the first half. We got more screen time with characters like Mii and Payne in this season so that is pretty cool. So let’s move on to
Characters
Bofuri Season 2 focuses on more characters than Season 1. Sure, no character is technically new, but we get more screen time with them meaning they get more development. Maple and Mii become unlikely friends which is pretty sweet. And Payne gets a bit more personality to himself as well. Of course, we still have the usual cast that we know and love. So this season did a better job on characters overall in my opinion.
Animations and Soundtracks
The overall animation still remains a little bright for my taste but the art style is still really good. We got some interesting floor designs in this season too; all the more reason that I wish we spent more time on them. The soundtrack still absolutely slaps though and we have so much more variety compared to season 1 now. The ending theme goes so hard; it has no right to be that good.
Conclusion
So here are my final scores for Bofuri Season 2:
- Plot – 6/10
- Characters – 7/10
- Animations – 7/10
- Soundtracks – 8/10
- Enjoyment – 8/10
- Making game devs cry – 10/10
- Overall – 7/10
So yeah, some pros and some cons. While I don’t think this season reaches the same highs as season 1, I think it still is an enjoyable ride and I am glad that I stuck to it. Let me know what you guys think in the comments though as this is all just my personal opinion. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
