Right once again, I know I am late and I do apologize for it. But, let me be happy about this really good news! This is a piece of great news for manga fans all over the world. We lost all hope we had of seeing Berserk ending when our beloved Miura-sensei passed away but, here we are with a huge searchlight of hope. Yes, guys, we can all put our copium pipes down now; Berserk is officially going to continue.
So there is not much news to cover over here but, it is very important news nonetheless. I will put up my thoughts/ramblings once we are done with the news part. But man, Berserk returning is huge news so let’s continue without any further ado.
What do we know about Berserk’s return?
We all know our dear Kentarou Miura died last year due to aortic dissection. So the Berserk manga has been on hold since then. This Tuesday though, the editorial department of Young Animal announced that the manga will be continuing from the next edition of the magazine! That is from June 24th. Miura’s manga studio, Studio Gaga will be credited for the manga from now on and they will be working under the supervision of Kouji Mori. Of course, Miura-sensei will still be credited as the original creator.
Miura-sensei often consulted Mori-sensei for the plotlines of Berserk. Mori-sensei did admit that the manga will not be perfect but, they will try to deliver as close to the original experience as possible. For now, the manga is set to end the current arc in 6 chapters followed by another arc. Once again, the new chapter will be coming out on June 24th so keep your eyes out for that!
My Thoughts
I was kind of coping this would happen but now I finally put my copium pipe away. Berserk is actually going to return and I am very excited about it. Now I know, some people will be like “it won’t be as good as before”. Guys, even Mori-sensei is accepting that the manga probably won’t be as good as before. So just be grateful that we will be seeing more of this legendary series. I also did have my qualms but when I heard that Miura-sensei had been consulting Mori-sensei for years, my mind changed.
I mean, Miura-sensei had worked with Mori-sensei and his assistants at Studio Gaga for years now so they know what they are doing. The biggest difference should be the art style in my opinion. I am sure the vibe of the story will remain the same but, the art style is very hard to mimic. But, that is a compromise I am more than willing to make to see more of Berserk. More Berserk is always good.
