Berserk is one of the best, if not the best manga of all time. It has been the highest-rated manga on MyAnimeList for as long as I can remember. None of the manga are even close to its rating on MAL. That is all for a good reason of course. Berserk is that good.
As we all know, Berserk’s author Kentarou Miura sensei passed away recently from a rather complicated problem. It’s something called an aortic dissection, look it up yourself if you’re curious. So what is up with this new chapter of Berserk then? Well let’s get into the details
What do we know about the upcoming new chapter of Berserk?
Young Animal Magazine’s 16th and 17th combined issues for the year are coming out on 10th September. Berserk was published in this magazine. The new chapter, chapter 364 will be published in this new issue of the magazine. The chapter will serve as a memorial to the late author.
Chapter 364 will get a full-color opening page. Not only that, but it will also have a special booklet containing messages to the late author and a poster made up of famous scenes from the manga. This sounds really interesting. Makes me wish I could read physical copies of manga. But my country doesn’t import manga sadly.
I have no idea who’s gonna write this chapter but I think it will be the Miura-sensei’s assistant. As for the actual content of the chapter, I have no idea what will happen. I really do like this idea of doing one last chapter to pay homage to the original author. Artists worldwide paid their respects to Miura-sensei. People made such beautiful art to honor him. That alone is enough to show you how much he was respected and loved.
Expectation
I honestly have no idea what to expect from this new upcoming chapter. I doubt they will try to sum up the manga. They will leave us on a cliffhanger most probably or give us some other kind of open to interpretation style ending. There are a lot of things left to be closed in the series and it’s not possible to do all that in a single chapter. I highly doubt we will see another chapter of the manga after this one but we’ll see.
All that said, I don’t think that they even need to give the new chapter a proper story. It could be something trivial since this chapter is meant as an homage to Miura-sensei. It is really hard to say anything for certain at this point. We will have to wait for another month to know for certain. I will be sure to update with anything new I get my hands on meanwhile.
