This is one of the best original anime I’ve laid my eyes on. Yes, I said that knowing full well how good some of the original animes are. Vivy is easily that good, I dont care what anyone says. This is one of the finest WIT Studio-produced projects in every aspect. I know some people did not like this anime but honestly, I don’t get why. This anime is beautiful both in terms of visuals and story.
So welcome back to another edition of our anime recommendation series. This week we are talking about Vivy: Fluorite Eyes song. A beautiful sci-fi anime made by our dear WIT Studio. I really like this anime if you can’t already tell, so let’s get right into it.
Introduction
Vivy: Fluorite Eyes Song is an original anime by WIT Studio. It was created by Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara. You may know Tappei Nagastuki as the author of Re: Zero. The anime is 13 episodes long and it aired in the spring season of 2021. There are also manga and LN adaptations of this anime, so if you’re interested you can check them out. I’ve not personally read them simply because the anime is just too good.
As I said earlier, Vivy is a sci-fi anime revolving around music. This is a rather rare combo, we don’t generally get to see sci-fi paired up with musical stuff. This is why I hoped Takt would turn up something similar to this but the last few episodes were a bit yikes. But anyway, let’s continue.
Plot
So Vivy starts off simple, a singer AI, Diva is approached by Matsumoto an AI from the future. Matsumoto tells Diva that a war between humans and AI will take place in the future and asks her to stop certain key events from happening. After refusing for a bit, Diva finally agrees to help Matsumoto in his quest. Sounds simple right? but, this all soon descends into utter chaos as the end of the series comes close.
The ending of the series is beautifully executed and it is very fitting. Vivy is a beautiful anime and it has a really engaging plot to go along with it. There are a lot of plot twists and a fair amount of world-building. And boy, there is a lot of unexpected stuff in this anime. It loves to play with your mind.
Characters
Vivy is full of relatable and great characters. My personal favorite has to be Matsumoto. He is initially so cold and distant but, we later find out he is just very sincere towards his objective. Then there is Diva who is so well written and developed. The whole split-personality thing she has and her part in the story and stuff are really well done. Even some of the side characters are really memorable like the nurse AI.
Animations and Soundtracks
As a WIT Studio original, Vivy has beautiful animations. The attention to detail is insane, you can literally see camera lenses in the eyes of all AIs. And the characters and background design are extremely well done as well. The soundtracks once again are beautiful. This anime has some of the best music direction and sound design I’ve ever seen.
Why should you watch Vivy?
Some quick pointers on why you should check out this anime:
- Great plot
- Awesome characters
- Amazing animations
- Great soundtracks
Conclusion
That is all for now. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I love Vivy and I think it was a really well-executed anime. I wish it got some more anime material and stuff but, it’s best not to forcefully extend a story. With that said though, I will take my leave here. See ya!
