And back with another mid-season review/discussion stuff. Aharen-san is one of the better animes from this season and it is definitely funny as hell. A friend of mine recommended this anime to me since he was familiar with the manga. And man, I thank him to this day for introducing me to this masterpiece. This is hands down one of the most entertaining shows I’ve watched in my recent memory.
So welcome back to another mid-season review. I know, we’ve been doing a lot of these lately but what can I say? This season has way too many good anime. well, Aharen-san is up on the plate today and I can’t wait to talk about it. So well, let’s start with a brief introduction to the series.
Introduction
Aharen-san wa Hakararenai anime is based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Asato Mizu. It started its serialization on 29th July 2017 on Shounen Jump+. It follows Raido, a big guy who struggles to make friends. On the first day of high school, he is determined to get along well with the girl who sits next to him, Aharen Reina. Little did Raido know that Aharen-san is pretty awkward in her own way.
I agree, it is kind of a generic-sounding plot on the surface and all, but the series itself is very entertaining. It mostly boils down to Aharen-san wanting to do something and Raido going overboard with helping her. The character development and plot pacing are very intentionally gradual and it feels natural. Sure, the plot is not anything crazy but sometimes simplicity is good.
What do I think about it so far?
As I’ve said multiple times till now, Aharen-san is a really entertaining anime. It is really funny to see Raido have all kinds of wild imaginations and headcanons about Reina; only for them to be debunked moments later. He is also a great guy, he is willing to go really far to help Reina with even some menial things. I also love the sort of competition they have between them every single time when they pick up a game.
As you can imagine, the main selling point of Aharen-san is the interactions between the 2 lead characters. There are other characters too but, not too many of them. So the main focus of the plot is always the lead pair. Some people like it some people may not like it. As far as I am concerned, their interactions are really well done and feel very wholesome and entertaining so I like the series.
Conclsuion
That is all for now. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. Personally, I’ve really been enjoying this series so far since it is so entertaining and fun to watch. Aharen-san is a great series to melt away some tensions and freshen up your mood. That is how I feel though. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!!
