That was a very long title… I am going to refer to this anime simply as A Genius Prince’s Guide from here on just for simplicity. I am a bit late on the first impressions thing but, I am not too late either because well, only 3 episodes have aired at the time of writing. And 3rd one just aired yesterday. So far though, I really like the series. For a season that is being carried hard by 2 big names, there sure is some underrated stuff here.
So I am gonna talk about all my impressions about A Genius Prince’s Guide so far. I definitely have been enjoying the anime a lot. More than I expected. And again, shout out to Muse Asia for giving us access to this for free. With that said though, let’s start with the details. There are some minor spoilers ahead so be careful.
Plot
The plot of A Genius Prince’s Guide is pretty simple. The ruler of a small kingdom, Natra is terminally ill and his son, Wein takes up the job of ruling as the Regent in his stead. But Wein doesn’t want to rule. He wants to spend every day relaxing and sleeping. So he has the brilliant idea of doing stuff to increase his country’s value and then auctioning it off to spend a lazy retirement life.
Yes, you heard me right. Wein is willing to sell his own country just to live an easy life. Here is where the brilliant part comes in though; Wein ends up winning multiple wars despite planning to lose them earning him the fierce loyalty and respect of his men. I mean the whole premise of A Genius Prince’s Guide is so interesting, funny, and entertaining. The anime really managed to execute this well so far. The world-building is also good so far.
Characters
Not many important characters so far. It is mostly Wein and his assistant, Ninym. Wein is definitely one of the more entertaining MCs I’ve seen in a while. He really behaves like a normal teenager and he is childhood friends with Ninym so their interactions have a great dynamic and they’re really fun to watch. A Genius Prince’s guide may not have many characters as of now but, it is really early and so far I love how Wein and Ninym are portrayed. And I really like Ninym; she’s such a sweetheart.
Animations and Soundtracks
A Genius Prince’s Guide is nothing too special in this department. The animations are pretty standard and the soundtracks don’t stand out that much. The opening and ending themes didn’t stand out to me as much either. But, that is fine. It is a rather low-budget anime after all.
Conclusion
My initial ratings for A Genius Prince’s Guide are:
- Plot – 8/10
- Characters – 7/10
- Animations – 6/10
- Soundtracks – 6/10
- Enjoyment – 9/10
- Ninym – 10/10
- Overall – 7/10
Well, that’s all for now. I really have been enjoying A Genius Prince’s Guide so far. Let me know if you like the anime or not so far down in the comments. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
